Two bands from opposite corners of the gothic neofolk underground collaborated together, and they're taking it across Europe this fall.
@societyofthesilvercross are Joe Reineke and Karyn Gold-Reineke from Seattle. Dark, hypnotic, witchy. Chant-like vocals over 12-string guitar, harmonium, B3 organ and tom-heavy drums, rooted as much in the devotional music of India as in the darker edges of folk. Post-Punk called them eerie and haunting, piercing the mundane and beckoning listeners into a trance. SPIN described a hypnotic spell that pulls you into a dark, cinematic world. Rolling Stone wrote of otherworldly realms exploring life, death, beauty and darkness. Filter called them one of the most promising acts in dark music.
Blood and Sun is the gothic neofolk of Luke Tromiczak, formed in 2011 and carried by a baritone you feel in the floor. Somewhere between 70s folk, underground black metal, and old horror soundtracks. Internationally recognized for brooding, ritualistic songwriting.
The two bands wrote and recorded together at Temple of the Trees in Seattle, and the result is Temple Hymns Volume Two, featuring "Unraveled" and "Battled Hands." Out now everywhere.
🎶 Society of the Silver Cross - "Unraveled" feat. Blood and Sun
Now they co-headline Europe together behind it, with Swedish artist Linnea Hjertén opening every night.
