NEWS | Not one, but two major FIFA-standard stadiums are being planned for Haiti, one in the North and one in the South, Sports Minister Pythagore Dumas announced.

In the South, the project targets the Parc Larco site in Les Cayes, also identified in reports as Parc Land des Gabions. A longstanding land dispute with the Léger family has reportedly been resolved, with the family ceding the property to the state following the involvement of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé.

Dumas and Director General Wilfince Mombrun inspected the site in early October, and a feasibility study is advancing. The proposal calls for a new stadium, with nearby Antoine-Simon International Airport seen as an advantage for international access.

In the North, land near Cap-Haïtien has been referenced for a parallel project, though the exact location and construction timeline remain less documented.

The 2026–2027 budget also includes funding to rehabilitate five existing venues: Parc Saint-Victor, Parc Levelt, Parc Sténio Vincent, Parc Serge Bernadel and Parc Saint-Joseph. In Gonaïves, the targeted inauguration date is January 1, 2027, with earlier reports citing an allocation of approximately 105 million gourdes.

For Haiti’s national teams and supporters, the goal is to bring international matches home. The next milestone will be moving from feasibility studies to construction, followed by the approvals required to host those matches •
