Local Roots

🍃 Going collecting seeds for our native Irish tree nursery doesn’t mean that we are with our nose to the ground - at least not the whole time 😉.

It’s amazing how nature recovers from potentially devastating impact. This willow tree, for example, had a large limb that broke away from the trunk. Seeing the outer layers are still attached the limb didn’t die. Nurishment happens through the outer layers (a couple of millimetres below the bark) of the trunk and as long as those are intact it will continue to provide nutrients for growth, photosynthesis and other functions.

🍃 Would you like to get involved, get your hands dirty, learn more about growing trees and find your tribe? Our next Community Day will be on Saturday the 10th of October. Sign up through our website - see link in bio.
