43. That’s it. Not 83. Not 73. Not even 53.
43 years of mornings.
43 years of birthdays.
43 years of opportunities to love, forgive, build, pray, laugh, give, and live.
And then—TIME is up.
How did I get here thist 1st of October morning?
Stories like the young 43 year old Zimbabwe Billionare trending on social media, and his lovely wife's plane crash fatality brought me full circle back to a message my City Manager sent to employees about time and those who are important. People first. The message was so moving I sent my Leader a thank you email.
For me, September was indeed a month to be remembered, and October is a month to be mindful of our time as time is one of the greatest forms of wealth God has ever placed in our hands.
Yet unlike money, property, titles, or possessions, we cannot earn another yesterday or purchase one more tomorrow.
Just close your eyes for a moment and meditate right here. 🛐
We often speak as though time belongs to us:
“Next year…”
“One day…”
“When I get around to it…”
“When things settle down…”
But Scripture says, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12
Notice it says number our days—because apparently God never intended for us to live as though our days were without number.
Again pause and meditate right here. Do yourself a favor today and just think about your number that started at Zero to xxx, now.
Every morning we awaken is time God has granted us:
Another measure of mercy.
Another opportunity to straighten up and fly right. (Nat King Cole)
Another chance to say I love you.
Another chance to forgive.
Another chance to obey God.
Another chance to use the gift inside of us.
Another chance to actually LIVE.
The question is not simply, How long will I live?
Perhaps the greater question is: What am I doing with the time God has already given me? Because a long life is a blessing—but a life poured out with purpose is a testimony.
Tomorrow is a hope.
Yesterday is a record.
Today is the portion God placed in your hand.
Spend it wisely.
Love deeply.
Forgive quickly.
Obey promptly.
Treat people well.
Spend time with family and friends.
