Backpack is the winner! 🥇🐻 🎒

When we saw Backpack at Brooks Falls in Alaska, we immediately knew he was something special. There’s just something about seeing a bear that massive standing right in front of you that a picture can’t really capture.

Backpack is the son of Holly, the 2019 Fat Bear Week champion, and he got his name because he used to ride on his mother’s back as a cub.

He’s also a survivor. After suffering a serious leg injury when he was younger, he somehow grew into one of the biggest bears at Brooks Falls. Despite his size, he’s known for being more of a gentle giant than an aggressive bear.

We were lucky enough to see him in person… and now, he’s officially the 2026 Fat Bear Week champion. 🏆🐻

After seeing him at Brooks Falls, I can’t think of a more fitting winner.
