The Forum des 100, organised each year by @letemps.ch, has selected Prof. Sylvian Fachard, director of the Swiss School of Archaeology in Greece (ESAG), among the personalities of its 2026 edition.

The Forum brings together those who shape French-speaking Switzerland: decision-makers, entrepreneurs, public officials, scientists and cultural actors. The 2026 edition will take place on 27 October, around the question "Is Switzerland stainless in the face of geopolitical shocks?".

Published under the title "Le passé qui repasse", the portrait by Philippe Simon looks back on the direction of ESAG and on the research carried out for decades at the ancient site of Eretria, on the island of Euboea. It also turns to Sylvian Fachard's work on the notion of borders in antiquity, those spaces that divide as much as they connect. "A form of traumatology of destruction, one that still extends its web today, from Ukraine to the Middle East."

The selection comes a few months after ESAG moved into the Swiss House of Culture, Research and Diplomacy, inaugurated in Athens in May 2026.

Many thanks to Philippe Simon for his text 🙏
