"Unbuilt 2.0"

Building on my submission for the show #ChitthiAayiHai held at @o.art.space in Lahore, I experimented with another unbuilt bathroom drawing.

As an architect, I have made many drawings for spaces that were never built. Unbuilt begins with one such drawing - a bathroom that existed only on paper.

The drawing becomes a site for another kind of construction, continuing my ongoing exploration of the often unseen materials and techniques of building: jute string soaked in red oxide, impressions taken from the patterns behind tiles, and layers of acrylic, oil, carbon print, archival print and graphite.

What is normally concealed beneath the finished surface is brought to the surface.
