I spent such a long time make the same mistakes, year after year. It kept me exactly where I was instead of helping me to move forward, waiting and hoping that something would come along and change my financial situation for me and my little family.
Nothing ever came. I never got that lucky. People rarely do.
I kept going through the same cycle, stressed and overwhelmed and doing mental financial gymnastics each and every day. Constantly checking my bank account and always feeling that lead weight sink when the app opened.
Nothing was changing. Or it wasn’t until I realised that waiting to be rescued is not the same as actually building a way out and finding a way to try and turn my situation and my fears around myself.
This year I stopped waiting and actually started learning the basics of building something of my own, something I could do around my chaotic family life and demanding NHS job. Something I could do without sacrificing any more time with my little boy and missing out on school runs and bedtimes.
