At the bottom of Monte Conero, which rises 600 metres above the Adriatic coast, lies the small fishing village of Portonovo. It in the heart of the Marche region, just south of Ancona. Right there on the beach, there is @ristorante_emilia_portonovo . This family-run restaurant has been in existence since 1928. Founded by Giulia Palmina Gasparoni – whom everyone simply called Emilia – it remains to this day a symbol of what defines Adriatic cuisine: fresh fish and seafood, straight from the sea on the doorstep.
