Just recently, the best images yet of the new 2027 Mercedes-AMG BlackSeries emerged, as the stage of development had progressed and the latest prototypes were closer to production, revealing new details. It is precisely this prototype that has now caught fire following its first lap on the Nordschleife. Apparently, the side pipes on the passenger side ignited something on the car due to the extreme heat. This is precisely why prototypes are put through their paces before the official launch, to ensure that such faults do not occur later in the production models. The BlackSeries was already smoldering slightly as it left the Nordschleife, trailing a cloud of smoke behind it. The driver managed to reach the industrial estate, some 2.5 km away from the Nürburgring, via the entrance of the AMG test centre. That was the end of the journey at the barrier there, as flames were already shooting out of the rear right-hand side of the car.
