25 years…
25 years ago nearly 3,000 Americans died in the attacks of 9/11 and forever altered the trajectory of national and domestic U.S. policy. Unofficial estimates put the total number of U.S. service members killed in the ensuing GWOT wars of Iraq and Afghanistan at just over seven thousand and eight thousand U.S. contractors alongside them, and as many as 4.7 million civilians killed globally as wars drove economic instability, supply crisis, ruined infrastructure and disease.

The wife told me today we should attend the memorial service at work. I looked at her and reminded her I’ve done and given enough. I KNOW what it cost. Said all the more reason to go. So we went.

25 years feels every bit as long as it has been. And yet the memories are still there. Fresh as ever.
