New exhibition opens September 19 at Kala Gallery!
We are excited to present What We Hold, new work by our 2025–2026 Kala Fellowship artists Joanna Cortez @joanna__cortez, Priya Suresh Kambli @kambli.priya, Klea McKenna @klea_mckenna, Ainslee Alem Robson @ahhslay, and Mei Chen Tseng @meichennehciem.
Bringing together work shaped by family archives, cultural traditions, mythology, ritual, folklore, and inherited objects, What We Hold explores how memory and ancestry are carried, transformed, and reimagined across generations. The artists consider what we inherit, and what we choose to preserve, question, or carry forward.
Opening Reception:
Saturday, September 19, 2–4pm
Kala Gallery | 2990 San Pablo Ave., Berkeley, CA 94702
Exhibition: September 19 - December 23
Come celebrate these five remarkable artists and see the new work they’ve developed during their Kala Fellowships. We’d love to see you there!
