~ New Firearms for Somalia’s DANAB Special Forces

Today’s post features 10 images posted within the last 4-5 months showing Somali combatants affiliated with the DANAB Brigade posing with a variety of interesting firearms supplied by the West such as the M249 Squad Automatic Weapons fitted with Eotech XPS pattern optics alongside a Serbian Zastava M21 rifle and M4 pattern rifles seemingly equipped with Daniel Defense stocks in Image 1.

Slide 2 does not feature a DANAB affiliate, but rather a member of Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) as he poses with a locally rare B&T APC9K Pro G submachine gun which accepts Glock magazines.

Image 3 shows another DANAB M249 Gunner on a Polaris Sportsman ATV while slide 4 features a DANAB member armed with an M4A1 that’s fitted with an Eotech EXPS style optic, PEQ-15 IR laser and SilencerCo Saker556K suppressor.

Slide 5 features a female DANAB combatant (same in image 4) armed with what appears to be an M4 CQBR rifle fitted with a fake Eotech magnifier and optic. Additionally, she also appears to be in possession of an NVG device of either Chinese or ex-Soviet manufacture. DANAB does have several female combatants which operate in ways similar to an American “Female Engagement Team” with their primary role being to engage with local women and adolescents in situations where it would be culturally unacceptable to involve male operators.

Images 6-8 feature additional M4 pattern rifles while slides 9-10 show an interesting C-UAS setup in the form of a Turkish ATA Arms “Etro” 12 gauge shotgun that’s been fitted with what appears to be a Turkish 3E EOS PARS thermal optic. C-UAS devices are needed in Somalia these days as 1S1S-Somalia is active in the Golis mountain range and routinely uses FPV drones to target security force personnel.
