v/a - interference - live at love parade ’94 (interference records, 1995)
file under: canonical piece of history in terms of european electronic music.
recorded live during the 1994 interference festival, held alongside the love parade. rather than studio tracks submitted by the artists, the recordings were made during the actual performances as uwe reinecke and matthias roeing (dr. motte) had recording equipment covering all four spaces at the festival.
with contributions from ebi, plastikman, panasonic, sun electric, deep space network, the higher intelligence agency, pete namlook to name a few, the compilation moves freely between dubby minimalism, ambient, industrial electronics and more, it screams chillout.
less a snapshot of the love parade itself than a document of everything happening around its fringes.
