Daniela Klette is a former member of the left-wing terror group Red Army Faction who was arrested in February 2024 after more than 30 years on the run.

The Red Army Faction was also known as the Baader-Meinhof gang after its two founding members. Beginning in the 1970s they initiated a series of attacks in West Germany which continued for many years, killing around 30 people and wounding more than 200.

According to the Guardian, Klette is suspected of involvement in an attack on the US embassy in Bonn in 1991 and a bombing in Weiterstadt in 1993. She may have also been present at the scene during an operation in 1993 when police officer Michael Newrzella and RAF member Wolfgang Grams were killed and former RAF member Birgit Hogefeld was arrested. The RAF officially disbanded in 1998, but Klette and others remained on the run, pulling off armed robberies to support themselves over the years.

She was located and arrested following a tip-off to police in early 2024.

Although the statute of limitations has already expired for her membership in the RAF, a court in Verden in Lower Saxony found her guilty of aggravated robbery, violating weapons laws and other offenses over a 17-year period, according to reporting by the BBC. Between 1999 and 2016 she and two other former group members, Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg robbed supermarkets and armored cars. Neither of her two accomplices have been caught yet.

In February 2024, German police arrested her after received a tip that she was living in the Kreuzberg area of Berlin under the alias ‘Claudia’ and using a fake passport. She had attempted to blend in and live a mostly normal life and even performed as a dancer at the Carnival of Cultures in Kreuzberg in 2009 and 2011. Inside her home, police discovered weapons, ammunition, a fake RPG launcher, wigs, false IDs, gold and €240,000 in cash.

In May 2026 she was sentenced to thirteen years in prison.
