For years, I knew something was wrong with my body. I went from doctor to doctor, trying to explain the pain and symptoms that were taking over my life, only to be told that nothing was wrong. Eventually, I was diagnosed with endometriosis and PCOS. Endometriosis meant surgery. I underwent excision surgery in 2023 to remove the disease tissue growing inside my body after years of pain and unanswered questions. It was a major moment in my life, both physically and emotionally. I finally had an explanation for what I had been experiencing, but surgery wasn’t the end of my health journey. Despite treatment, lifestyle changes, and continuing to search for answers, my symptoms persisted. The pain began affecting my entire body. Eventually, I was diagnosed with lupus, a serious autoimmune disease that can affect multiple organs and become life-threatening. Research has found associations between endometriosis and certain autoimmune diseases, including lupus, although we still have much to learn about why these conditions overlap. Living through this has made me think deeply about women’s health, the effects of chronic illness on the body, and how much we still don’t understand. Too many women are taught to normalize debilitating pain instead of being given answers, support, and appropriate care. I know how isolating it feels to fight for answers while trying to keep your life moving. I also know how fortunate I am to have a supportive family and access to medical care. Not everyone has those resources, and that is one of the reasons this matters so much to me. I used to think I’d wait until I had my health figured out before sharing my story. But I don’t want to wait for a perfect ending to start a conversation that needs to be happening now. I’m incredibly grateful to be getting involved with the Endometriosis Foundation and to contribute to the work being done around endometriosis awareness and women’s reproductive health. I’m excited to share more soon. For now, I wanted to start by sharing an overview of my story, because no woman should have to fight this hard to be heard. 💛
First @hyroxworld singles in the books!! The Boston Hyrox event did not disappoint and big shoutout to @factormeals for the opportunity. Some thoughts and highlights: 1) The dreaded wall balls went better than expected but still tons of room for improvement. 2) I was strong in the burpee broadjumps in doubles…but it blasted me in singles. Didn’t see that coming. 3) The sled pushes felt super heavy for some reason. Had to slow down on this so that I didn’t blow my calves up. 4) Farmers carries were also a big struggle, gotta work on my grip strength. 5) Felt super strong on lunges 6) Can’t believe this dude beat me at the finish line 🤪 7) Overall was pleased with my nutrition and hydration strategy. No stomach problems out there 🤘 8) Check out the last photo above 👆to see a summary of my strengths and weaknesses from the day. Can’t wait to do it again and big thanks to the @onepeloton and @teamwilpers community for all the cheering and support out there 🙏🙌
