I dont think many British tourists make it to Ankara but I had a 24 hour layover from Tashkent so I jumped at the chance as ive always wanted to go! As suspected, I bloody loved it! Headed straight to Anıtkabir which is the mausoleum of their beloved Atatürk: the founder of modern Turkey. You have to walk miles through this beautiful wooded parkland which makes it feel like you are on a pilgrimage, it was absolutely beautiful and the mausoleum was so stunning that it was worth going to Ankara for this alone.
