OKAYYY WE BACK

DRAGON OPEN 2026 RECAP 🥇🥉

I started this season off with the Dragon Open, probably one of the most interesting tournaments I’ve had.

I started off with patterns, and even though I still have a good amount of time left in juniors, I had the opportunity to go up against seniors. Even though I was hoping for a slightly better result, I got third place, which isn’t bad at all🥉

After patterns, I coached one of the younger students in sparring, which went well in my opinion.

Quickly after that, I had to go spar myself. In my first match, I accidentally made a roundhouse too low (I’M SO SRY 😭), which forced my opponent to concede and got me disqualified from the match, meaning I lost the points I could’ve gained. Luckily, I was still allowed to spar the rest of my matches, which I won with perfect scores, so I still managed to secure first place as well as the nickname “DQ Tim” apparently🥇

Probably one of my favourite moments was coaching my teammate @anisayhtan , who had to go up against a multiple-time world champion in sparring. The matches went great, and she got herself second place. It was an honour to be in her corner🥈

Overall, a really fun day and definitely a great success. I can’t think of many better ways to return to the mats 🙌
