It started with a rare find at Queen B Vinyl in Cottonwood, Arizona. Heilung has only performed once in the USA the past couple years, and it was at Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado. I wanted to see this show but didn’t have the time to get there, so I missed my best chance to see them live. So a couple weeks ago I found the live recording of that concert, where there was only 800 pressings made. I bought it and showed it to my friends at Wooden Tooth Records in Tucson. In a “hold my beer moment,” they showed me they had this particular record from the Lifa concert Heilung did about eight years ago. Many people like me discovered this group due to that performance, and yeah, I had to have it. There is only 500 of these floating around in the world and it’s exactly the kind of thing I like. It’s cool, well made and really more than just collector slop. Someday when I die I hope the next person will enjoy this like myself, and yeah, you read that right. I ain’t selling this. Either way, just another moment to illustrate how important physical media is, because sure, I can enjoy this on Apple ITunes anywhere I go, but digital air can’t replace what you can hold and cherish in your hands.
