Dario Amodei’s essay “Pacing the Frontier” will be a milestone event in tech history - because it’s not just another conversation on the risks of AI, it’s a proposal for global AI policy.

Even more important is the fact that all frontier leaders are in agreement. Sam Altman, Elon Musk, and Demis Hassabis have proposed slightly different methods but have still voiced agreement. In my opinion, it’s one (or a combination) of 4 factors that would cause this.

1) Technical Risk: Sharing scrutiny & accountability
2) Technical Risk: Disruption by fractional cost open source models
3) Economic Risk: The AI Arms Race becoming unsustainable.
4) Economic Risk: Need for government co-sign to unlock capital markets.
