515 days. 17 months. A year and five months.

I’m not going to pretend this is easy to post. It’s vulnerable, and honestly it’ll probably get taken down. But I wanted to testify about the man I’ve become.

I never want to see that old man again. It makes me sad to look at him — not because of how he looked, but because of how loved he was and he didn’t even know it.

But I owe him. He’s the one who finally decided. He’s the one who got up the first morning when nothing about him had changed yet and there was no proof any of it would work. I don’t want to be him again, but I’m grateful for him.

That decision was to love the Lord by taking care of the body He gave me, and to love my family enough to stay here a long, healthy time.

I’m nowhere near my goal. But being proud of the man I am today has started to feel normal — and that used to be the most unfamiliar feeling in the world.
