What‘s a memorable moment you still recall today from your teens? Where were you? How did you feel back then and what emotions come to mind now? 🫶

I had the opportunity of doing this exact activity last Friday at Forever 16, a YA writing workshop with Aussie author @bymegmcdermott as part of the @emergingwriters’ Festival. It was such a wonderful interactive workshop where we focussed on iconic coming of age texts like Little Women by Louisa May Allcott, The Summer I Turned Pretty by @jennyhan and Looking For Alibrandi by Italian-Australian @melina.marchetta. I remember watching Looking For Alibrandi (the film) as a tween with my own mum and nonna. Another special memory of mine was spending every summer with my cousins in Rosebud down the Mornington Peninsula. When it comes to my creative writing, I know so much of what I write stems from my younger years and ALL the feels that came with that season.

So lovely learning from the other attendees too. Even made a new writer friend, Claudia @potplantprincess! Thanks to Meg and EWF for putting on this workshop. Looking forward to attending another session this week 📝✨
