During my stay, I took long hikes in the mountains surrounding the fjord, encountering among other things "troll stones" formed by liquid lava (where one was expected to leave offerings), modern sound sculptures, an old net factory that now served as a studio and workspace for numerous artists, and people who could share stories about the "Hidden People."'.

May be an image of arctic and text that says 'One of the stories about the Hidden People recounted how a thunderstorm moved a house from the outer fjord to the inner fjord after a local resident had prayed to the Hidden People for home in the town center. It is precisely these Hidden People- such as gnomes, trolls, spirits, elves, and giants- -who are referenced in the Eddas (the collected poems documenting what we know today as Asabelief or Norse mythology).'.

May be an image of mountain, coast and text that says 'If you have seen Twin Peaks, you might imagine that the fjord- with its inhabitants, buildings, and stories felt a bit like being inside the Twin Peaks universe. This is hardly surprising, given that the Twin Peaks co-creator Mark Frost lived in the town for a number of years before developing the series with David Lynch.'.

May be an image of seaweed, coast and text that says 'In addition to the fascinating stories I gathered during my walks, I collected plenty of blueberries and likely some crowberries, too- -growing on the mountain peaks, far removed from animals and people. also found and gathered old, dried seaweed along the fjord. The soil surrounding the mountains was rich in tannin, which produces an orange- red, rust- rust-like like hue; I collected that as well. All these materials were boiled- -either individually or in combination and used to dye the wool yarn.'.

After much effort, I managed to repair it and used it to weave this piece. The design depicts the very view from the net factory, looking across the fjord toward the area's largest mountain, Bjólfur.'.

May be an image of loom, wool, tapestry and text that says 'At the exhibition opening, many locals were moved by the work, as they felt it captured the mountain just as the sun finally returned after seven to eight months of darkness. The mountain actually casts a shadow, hiding the sun, leaving the fjord in darkness for many months of the year.'.

May be a graphic of ‎ship, poster, arctic and ‎text that says '‎Over the years, many artists have painted and worked with Bjólfur as their subject- which comes as no surprise, given that the massive mountain is both incredibly beautiful (some artists have even remarked that it is impossible to work in Seyğisfjöröur because the mountains are so stunning that one cannot focus on anything else) and extremely dangerous. There have been numerous landslides around the mountain; consequently, the houses situated near it in the "Avalanche Zone" are less expensive, and residents must often temporarily evacuate due to the frequent risk of landslides. ا‎'‎‎.

It was only when this farm was discovered a few years ago, and the Norwegian Viking identified, that the origin of the mountain's name CATE to light. He must have named the mountain, and his name has endured through the centuries a result. as'.

May be an image of park, snow and text that says 'Inside his farmstead. there was one particularly large room where weaving tools were found: spools, yarn, combs, needles, and natural color pigments. One might magine, then, that- entirely without realizing it was following in the footsteps of Bjólfur's family by gathering color pigments and collecting wool from the sheep in the fjord and on the mountain, which happened to be the view from the net factory's weaving workshop.'.
