From Lafayette Square in Washington to Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, public spaces near centres of power have witnessed some of the world’s most defining political movements. These spaces have hosted demonstrations for civil rights, against wars and government policies, and demanding political accountability. From the anti-Iraq War march in London to the 2023 protests against Israel’s proposed judicial overhaul, these movements have made public dissent impossible to ignore. So, should India allow citizens to protest near centres of power? Or, as the Opposition argues, do restrictions risk making dissent a case of ‘out of sight, out of mind’? #PoliticalProtests #Democracy #PublicDissent #GlobalPolitics #protestmovements [historic protests around the world, public squares and democracy, protests near centres of power, Lafayette Square protests, London anti-Iraq War march, Gwanghwamun Square candlelight protests, Euromaidan uprising, Israel judicial overhaul protests, right to protest in India]
Desperately wanted to share for a while! But we had to do a bit of painting and add the lights before I could share! It’s been quite the makeover from a boxy room to opening it all to create this split level bedroom with en-suite below and although not finished you can really see how the room looks now. From those first drawings to this it looks so similar! We had the mdf stairs made originally so it was safe, it’s quite a tight space but I wanted it to give the appearance of being bigger with the larger bullnose at the bottom and to add some curves in some way. A huge thank you to @firststepdesigns who completely got my vision and made the oak veneer steps, created extra storage for me and created those curves with that beautiful oak balustrade. They made it from a plain staircase into something wow! We just had to do a little painting and add some lights (they created the recesses for us) I’ll be starting on the headboard this weekend as we have our new bed ready (we are gutted our bed in our current home is too big to fit in here) and the wardrobes are ordered and hopefully will be fitted before Christmas It’s a long one sorry but we’ve done so much I couldn’t not share the process! Hope you like ❤️❤️❤️ . 21 years ago on this day, Daniel Craig was announced as the next 007. The backlash was immediate. Coming off Pierce Brosnan’s polished, classic-era run, Craig felt like a shock to the system - blond, rougher around the edges, and far less traditionally “suave” than what many fans expected from the next James Bond. The reactions were loud enough to become headlines, with critics dismissing him before he had even filmed a single scene and online campaigns popping up to protest the casting, convinced he didn’t look or feel like Bond. But once ‘Casino Royale’ was released in 2006, the conversation flipped almost overnight. Craig brought a colder, more physical vulnerability to 007, grounding the character in bruises, grief, and real emotional stakes. What was once seen as a risky departure from the usual archetype quickly became a reinvention, and the same casting that sparked outrage ended up defining one of the most acclaimed Bond eras in the history of the franchise. 5 films. 15 years. What a run it was.
