A friend of mine snapped this photo at @skiptherecord 4th of July festival and I keep going back to it. It’s so powerful and speaks to me deeply. I tell anyone who will listen “don’t forget to be a kid” Kids don’t care what you think, they say what they mean, the dance, they sing, they paint, they dress up in silly outfits, they have fun and they are undeniably themselves. As adults we’re conditioned to fit into some kind of box and most of us fall for it. We stop creating in fear of judgement. We stop saying our truth out of fear no one will understand. We are taught to grow up get a job and that life isn’t meant to be fun. We lose that connection with our inner child and what it means to be human. I refuse to allow that mindset to reach me. This picture warms my heart because it’s reminds me of little Caitlin. I didn’t let her go. The same girl that invited a whole elementary school to her birthday party throws her own festivals where kids and adults have the freedom to be themselves and express themselves. Thank you Janet for the photo ❤️

I love and FEEL every word just spoken here and don’t ever fall for the “grow up” lie they tell us from a very young age! You can still be responsible and stay authentic and true to yourself and you’re doing it all so seamlessly 🔥
