I’ve lived abroad for 4 years and the feelings are.. complicated..

living abroad is a funny combination of feeling like you don’t actually fit in anywhere, loving where you are, but also having your heart tubed on memories of other places around the world. When I’m in Europe, I miss the US and when I’m in the USA of Europe. I’ve lived so many different lives and have experienced so many different versions of myself but now I feel like I’m always seeking the perfect place to experience all of them (it doesn’t exist). I feel like moving abroad is super romanticized on social media right now so I just wanna remind you:

Wherever you go there, you are

Your screen isn’t struggling to load these images. The objects really look like that.

French designer Jonas Hejduk brings the appearance of low-resolution graphics into the physical world through crash.jpeg. Blurry woven rugs and an upholstered bench disguised as a poorly rendered tree trunk turn familiar objects into something your eyes keep trying to bring into focus. The bench’s bark-like surface is printed fabric, combining traditional upholstery with the visual language of digital textures.

Started in 2021, the project follows an imaginary scenario: a meteorite hits Earth and mysteriously lowers the resolution of everything around it. Instead of making objects sharper and more detailed, Hejduk deliberately removes visual information, creating a world that seems permanently stuck halfway through loading.

Behind the humor is a question about our appetite for ever-clearer digital imagery. Images may feel weightless, but storing and sharing them depends on physical infrastructure and energy. Hejduk uses this fictional, blurry world to explore our relationship with technology, consumption, and the idea that higher definition always means progress.

I make this post once a month and it always does well

Still remember how we randomly woke up at 4 AM, looked at each other, and realised we were both smiling for no reason? Somehow, that turned into the longest conversation about life, luck, hard work, and how beautiful it is to simply be where we are.

Maybe it’s the people around me, the way things have been unfolding lately, or a few words from someone special that stayed with me longer than I expected. Whatever it is, something about these past few days has felt different, in the most beautiful way.

I think the one thing I want to hold on to is this: keep doing your part, keep your intentions pure, and don’t let the world’s perception of you dictate how you live. People may misunderstand your actions, question your choices, or see things differently, but your soul knows the intentions behind everything you do. And when you know you’ve tried to do right, there’s a certain peace in leaving the rest to God.

As the song goes, “कर्म बिना नसीब तोड़ फल खाया नहीं जाता।” You have to do your part, but you also have to believe in something beyond yourself.

Maybe that’s what those random 4 AM smiles are about. Nothing extraordinary happening, nothing to prove to anyone, just a quiet realisation that life has been incredibly kind. And sometimes, that feeling is more than enough.

Maybe that’s how an atheist slowly begins believing in someone they never thought they would. And if you’ve read this far, maybe it’s your sign to believe a little, too.
