a month agoThank you for sharing this, it is so important that we speak out, because as you so rightly say, silence is complicit
a month agoDidn’t even listen to the rest of this nonsense…… he has a choice the same as everyone else…… stop using this to show off, and leave people alone, keep out of others lives you don’t have the right to judge …. You’re trying to force someone into compliance with your narrative….. the last group of people that did this followed a short man from Austria with funny facial hair ….. stop trying to emotionally bully people into your narrative…. Just because you think you’re intelligent enough to have all the answers it doesn’t mean you’re right…… bad news…. You’re not
2 months agoMaybe you should learn what a Genocide is. All you are currently doing is making yourself look a fool.
2 months agoWhen its reported on BBC news it always calls it a conflict..bbc = government propaganda machine
2 months agoAs a person of colour myself I would suggest the author reads some of the comments and learns to think more carefully before posting such an imbalanced divisive video.
2 months agoSo, correct me if I’m wrong but to be in the public eye you have to be left wing, is that where we are as a society?
2 months agoAnd can we stop treating the word “genocide” as though repeating it often enough constitutes a judicial finding? It doesn’t. The allegation against Israel has been brought before the International Court of Justice, but the Court has not made a final determination that Israel committed genocide. Its provisional measures are exceptionally serious, but they are not a judgment on the merits. Whether the specific legal requirements for genocide are ultimately established is a matter for a competent court examining the evidence — not something either side gets to settle through repetition on social media. This is where the argument becomes particularly unpleasant: agree with us, say the approved things, support the approved causes, or we’ll attach the ugliest possible label to you. Calling someone a “white supremacist” or “racist” because he hasn’t made the political declaration you demanded doesn’t demonstrate the strength of your argument. It demonstrates how little tolerance you have for dissent. People are entitled to support Palestine. They are entitled to support Israel. They are entitled to condemn aspects of both. They are entitled to remain undecided. And yes, they are entitled to say absolutely nothing at all. Ed Sheeran doesn’t owe anyone a political performance simply because they have decided their own beliefs are morally compulsory for everybody else.
2 months agoAnother rant that ultimately boils down to: “Everyone who doesn’t publicly affirm everything I believe is a bad person, while my beliefs make me one of the good people.” Ed Sheeran declining to say what you think he should say about Palestine does not make him a racist or a white supremacist. Those are serious accusations, not catch-all insults for somebody who refuses to perform the politics you demand of him. And there is an extraordinary arrogance buried in all this: the assumption that because you believe something passionately, you must therefore be right. You aren’t appointed the moral arbiter of the world simply by being certain of your own opinions. Beliefs are not facts. Conviction is not evidence. And disagreement with you is not evidence of wickedness. What an impoverished way to view other human beings: I hold the correct beliefs, therefore I am good; you disagree with me, therefore you are bad. Decent, intelligent and well-informed people can examine the same complicated issue and reach profoundly different conclusions. The ability to tolerate that isn’t moral weakness; it’s one of the foundations of a pluralistic society. And the line that “everything is political” doesn’t improve the argument. It simply removes the possibility of anyone being apolitical. Under that logic, silence becomes a political statement, disagreement becomes moral failure, and failing to stand beside your cause becomes evidence of racism.
