29-Year-Old Mother Arrested for Leaving Four Children, Including a 2-Month-Old, Home Alone for 4 Days to Go on a Cruise Ship to the Bahamas

A 29-year-old Florida mother, Nathalie Belizaire, has been arrested after allegedly leaving her four young children alone at home for several days while she went on a cruise to the Bahamas.

Belizaire reportedly left the children at her North Miami Beach apartment on Friday and boarded the Carnival Conquest. She was arrested Monday after returning from the four-day trip and was met by North Miami Beach police officers.

Police said the father of her two-month-old baby became concerned after seeing Belizaire post about her cruise on social media. She allegedly told him that all four children were staying with their great-grandmother.

According to the arrest report, the father went to the apartment Saturday night and noticed the television was on and could hear the children inside, but Belizaire was nowhere to be found. First responders eventually entered the home and found all four children without adult supervision, with the siblings reportedly hiding together in a bathroom.

Authorities have not disclosed the ages of all four children, but confirmed that one is two months old and another is two years old.

Police alleged that Belizaire had arranged for their great-grandmother to care for them, but investigators said the woman told them Belizaire never brought the children to her. Belizaire also allegedly instructed her brother by text to check on the children during the weekend.

Her attorney said Belizaire denies the allegations, while Belizaire herself declined to give investigators a statement and invoked her right to remain silent.

She is facing four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm and was held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Her bond was set at $10,000.
