The October archives 👻🕷️🦇🎃 one more dumpy before Halloween

Going to preface this with... I feel fine, physically. Emotionally, that's a whole other story. I also want to say there are way worse health issues I could be dealing with and I recognize this. But you've probably noticed my absence on the news and heard my lovely teammates @doug.meehan and @katiee_t mention this morning that I will be out for a little while longer. In all honesty, I've been waiting for more answers myself but here's what I can answer for you:

Q: Where have you been?
A: On prescribed vocal rest

Q: Why?
A: Well, as it turns out my right vocal cord is paralyzed

Q: For how long?
A: I don't know. Could be days, weeks, months.

Q: But it still sounds like you can talk?
A: Yes, at a low volume but it's strained and hoarse. When I try to project like I would on TV, I can't.

Q: Does this just affect your voice?
A: No, the opening to my airway is essentially stuck open. It makes me winded which causes fatigue when I try to talk. Also, I have to be careful not to aspirate liquids and food.

Really hope to be back on the air sooner than later but at this point, the timeline is a bit uncertain.

Raskas viikko. Frans rakas. Viidettä kertaa sun syntymäpäivä ilman sua. 1558 päivää ilman sua. On niin kauhea ikävä.💔

Huomaan viimeiseen saakka vältteleväni traumaattisten hetkien ajattelua.

On edelleen.

Vaikeista tunteista on helpompi vaieta. Toki myös hiljaisuus voi olla välittämistä. Kyllä sen tuntee kun toinen välittää.❤️

Today was the slowest marathon I’ve ever run & it’s the one I’m most proud of.

I’ve never wanted to quit a race more. My legs were done at mile 14, I *tried* to quit at mile 19 but I’m not sure how to? I walked into a medical tent & they just gave me a Tylenol & Vaseline on a stick, so I kept going.

Then I got a text (2nd slide) from my 9 year old (via my wife) and I decided I was going to finish even if I had to walk the rest of the way. The video in slide 3 is me telling him at mile 22 he’s the reason I’m still running.

Somehow I was able to get running again & finished with a smile on my face.

I am so grateful for my family. I am so grateful for New York City and I am so grateful for everyone who took a moment out of their day to cheer me on. Apologies if I miss anyone here! Thank you @_madisonbrickman_ @ericbraate @huyweehtx @melissajcolorado @laurenmaroney @xbrigittelee @jesscunningtontv @gabrielle913 @maxgtv @nataliebrickman_ @keithbrickman @erocfitness @daleelstonfitness @erika_ungar_salvador @enezpaganuzzi @amyboonpokorny @its_matt_comrade @skyfall48runnerath
