Being a commercial artist, you’re never creating or working for yourself. It also divides the art form from a hobby versus profession, and too many people mistake the two in being the same thing.

This hits home. After 10 years fulltime freelancing I went back to “corporate” with a well balanced portfolio and it is less stressful bc you have all the support of a marketing team. If u are working with great people, it can be just as fulfilling. Just keep your freelance on the side just in case!
