Iβd like to tell you a little about my story.
My name is Noah Helder. Iβm Brazilian, and I was born in 1998 on the outskirts of the far eastern part of SΓ£o Paulo, in the neighbourhood of SΓ£o Mateus. Because of my background growing up in a favela, Iβve been working since I was a teenager. Iβve sold sweets on the streets, getting on buses through the back door, worked in a car repair shop, in telemarketing, at a petrol station, and as a doorman, and the list goes on. All of this was long before I turned 18.
For me, work was always connected to survival. But when I came across tattooing, I realised there could be something more.
For a while, I combined working as a motorbike delivery rider through apps with spending time in the studio. Whenever things slowed down on the streets, I would run back to drawing. Little by little, the income from the studio began to approach what I was earning on the streets. That was the turning point. From that moment on, I threw myself completely into tattooing, and before long, it became an obsession.
I never stopped drawing. Drawing has always been the central axis of my work, and within this context, becoming a tattoo artist specialising in Freehand became an obvious path for me. It taught me how to create without having absolute control, to trust the gesture, improvisation and the way I read the body.
While already working as a tattoo artist, I completed a degree in Visual Arts Education, but ultimately chose to dedicate my life to tattooing. In 2022, I moved to another country and decided to build my career in Europe.
In September 2024, I published my first research book on tattooing: The Garden of a Thousand Vipers. It was a project organised by me and made possible through the collaboration of around 70 artists from 17 different countries.
Now, in 2026, my newest project, Thereβs No Art Vol. 1, is a tribute to the history of tattooing.
This is a brief summary of my career so far, and I am eternally grateful to all the friends and clients who have brought me this far. Without you, none of this would have been possible, and it wouldnβt have had a reason to exist. π€
