a month agoMy first taste of GA flying was at Flabob too. My dad gave up flying before I was born but would always tell me his flying stories growing up. Fast forward and I’m there volunteering for young eagles one day at flabob and after the day is done one of the volunteer pilots looks at me and says hey did you get to go up? I said nope and I hopped in his airplane without telling my mom and went for a rip in this brown and white 172. We were up for about 45 minutes and I loved it. My mom had no idea where I was and was freaking out. Well fast forward to today and I’ve been flying for 13 years now and professionally the last 8 of them. I still smile when I’m on an arrival into one of socals airports and I see that little airport.
a month agoThat is awesome!! Dad owns a Breezy, very familiar giving rides to 1st timers!
a month agoI was already decided am going to be a pilot by 5th grade. Getting invited to jump seat a Piper Cherokee doing training including stall recoveries and nit long after that to sit as a dummy co pilot on a shorts Skyvan whilst still an 8th grader bit with good rudiments of how planes fly and instrument flying, it catapulted my drive especially when I became a regular cockpit visitor on L10-11 flights between Arabian Gulf and London on my school trips.
a month agoYep.. That kid was me... Happened on the official first day of school too. If he has my number, please tell him to give me a call.
