I have always associated Krishna with counsel more than combat, so Ahamasmi Yodha caught my attention immediately.

The book does not collect battles. It examines the reasoning around them: protection, negotiation, timing, duty and consequences. That makes Krishna's strength feel less physical and more connected to judgement. The treatment of Mathura, Dwarka and Kurukshetra gives the discussion movement, while the Ranchhod episode challenges the usual connection between retreat and defeat.

Neogi's accessible style helps. The maps, illustrations and weapon references make the setting easier to picture. The archaeology sections are intriguing. I liked the balance between mythology and strategy. The book asks us to notice the warrior behind the flute.
