Duane "Keffe D" Davis was sentenced Tuesday to 40 years to life for the murder of Tupac Shakur 30 years ago. He has 731 days of credit for time already served toward his sentence. Davis, a former leader of the Southside Compton Crips gang, was found guilty of first-degree murder on August 31 for plotting the 1996 killing of the rap mogul near the Las Vegas Strip. He remains the only person ever charged in the death of Shakur, who was 25 and at the height of his career when his life ended. For nearly three decades, the case remained unsolved: No murder weapon was ever recovered, law enforcement officials struggled with tight-lipped witnesses abiding by the gangs' "code of the streets," and as year after year passed, any physical evidence that might have existed slowly faded away. But as those years went by, a new form of evidence emerged around which prosecutors would eventually build their case: Davis' own words. He spoke openly in interviews, documentaries and podcasts about his involvement in Shakur's death and released a 2019 memoir recounting his version of events. Six Flags Over Georgia Reopening Friday Just Days After Man Falls to His Death From Goliath Roller Coaster BA Correspondent: @LaMyiahpTV Blogged by: Draggy Six Flags Over Georgia is preparing to welcome visitors back on Friday, October 16, just four days after a man tragically lost his life after falling from the park’s Goliath roller coaster. According to WSB-TV Channel 2 Atlanta, the amusement park will resume its scheduled operations while authorities continue investigating Monday’s fatal incident. However, officials have not confirmed whether Goliath, the attraction at the center of the investigation, will reopen alongside the rest of the park. The Six Flags reopening comes as questions remain about how the tragedy happened and what safety measures may be necessary to prevent another incident. The victim, identified by Cobb County police as 42-year-old Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem, died Monday, October 12, after being ejected from the Goliath roller coaster shortly before 4 p.m. According to ABC News, investigators said preliminary interviews with witnesses and park employees indicated that Kariem struck other passengers before falling beneath the attraction. Emergency responders found him unresponsive, and he was later pronounced dead. Four additional people were reportedly injured during the incident, although officials have not publicly detailed the extent of their injuries. The fatal accident immediately raised concerns about the Goliath roller coaster, one of Six Flags Over Georgia’s most recognizable attractions. The ride, which opened in 2006, features a 200-foot first hill and reaches speeds of approximately 70 miles per hour. Unlike some roller coasters, Goliath does not take passengers upside down and relies on lap bar restraints rather than individual seat belts. According to The Associated Press, investigators have not determined how Kariem became separated from his seat or whether a restraint issue, mechanical problem, or another factor contributed to his death. Those unanswered questions remain particularly important as the park prepares to resume operations.
