Precursors: A Digital Print Collection
People ask artists about “process” all the time: what you actually do, where the work really starts yadi yada yad ya. I’ve never liked giving the polished, pre packaged answer to anything, especially if just to sound good.
So here’s the honest one (polished because we’re selling a product here).
Blender wasn’t part of my process to begin with. It came into my journey later, almost by accident. When I started Blender it was not something I set out to make central to my work. But the more I’ve grown into it, the more it’s quietly taken over as my starting point. Without really meaning to, it’s become where a lot of my work begins now, before it becomes anything else.Precursors is my way of marking that realization.
It’s my first ever digital print: one design, created on Blender that leads to the bulk of the works created in 2026. The composition was inspired by Dragon Ball Z, specifically Goku standing behind Gohan in the Cell Saga, funneling his energy into him for the final blast.
Art to me has always felt like taking action, and the earliest memory I have of taking action through animation was Gohan rising to the challenge. That image stayed with me long enough to resurface, this time through the lens of my own curiosity about psychology and my own questioning of how relevant psychological archetypes really are.
Reinterpreted through that lens, Goku became my expression of the anima, not a helper standing behind the hero but an object seeking integration, something that once integrated allows so much more to be developed. A female figure stands just behind a male figure, arms outstretched wide in a gesture that’s part glory, part welcome. He stands just below her chin, arms out in front of him in the stance of release. She isn’t decoration behind the “main” figure. She’s the gateway he moves through before he can act with any real force at all.
