Inside a multi-roomed mockup of his blueprint for Gucci stores worldwide, we finally got a more resolved sense of Demna’s personal vision for the Italian mega-label, after a few seasons in the role. On an eclectic cast that included Amanda Harlech, Olympia of Greece and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Demna’s Gucci characters — The Aristocrat, The Snob, The Eccentric and The Rebel — vamped their way through the store set, complete with obliging sales assistants, in pagoda shouldered tailoring, rugby shirts and tartan, channeling a bourgeois attitude with an irreverent twist. “The broken bourgeoisie,” Demna called it. “But those bourgeois codes are not inherited — you can claim them and make them your own,” he continued.
