Day 3 (9/18/ 2026) of the 20th Annual Sickle Cell Summit was filled with education, celebration, remembrance, and inspiration!

We focused on Women’s Health, Men’s Health, and the importance of vaccinations, equipping our sickle cell community with knowledge and resources to live healthier, stronger lives.
We also took time to celebrate our 70+ Sickle Cell Warriors, honoring their strength, resilience, and the incredible journeys they continue to inspire us through.

We proudly honored our transition graduates, celebrating their accomplishments and the bright futures ahead of them.@
The evening culminated in a special Benefit Concert honoring the life and legacy of Kiki Shepard—a beautiful celebration of her impact, her memory, and the love she continues to inspire.
Day 3 reminded us that this journey is about more than sickle cell—it’s about life, legacy, perseverance, community, and hope. ❤️

According to @APNews, the Learjet 60 was traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas when it crashed near a busy roadway in Palm Beach County around 12:50 p.m.

Videos captured by witnesses show the aircraft rapidly falling from the sky before hitting the ground and exploding.
The impact left a large crater and sent thick black smoke into the air. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said there were no immediate reports of injuries or deaths on the ground.

Before the crash, pilots reported severe turbulence, ice buildup and heavy precipitation while flying at 35,000 feet. They requested permission to climb higher, but the aircraft suddenly began descending at an alarming speed. A pilot issued distress calls shortly before the jet crashed.
