Greetings Everyone, please come out and support my daughter Alyssa Simmons on her new adventure….. At the beginning of this year, I made a promise to myself: Stop hoarding creative ideas — and just do. For years, I’ve been passionate about videography and creative storytelling, but I never had the confidence to bring one of my own projects to life… until now. I’m proud to share my first independent project and upcoming short film: “The Temporary Project” Filmed, Directed, Edited, and Produced by me — Alyssa Simmons This film spotlights: 💉 Sickle Cell Warriors — sharing their lived experiences with honesty and resilience 🎤 Advocates — fighting for awareness, resources, and equity 📊 Industry Professionals — bridging data, innovation, and access My goal? To amplify the strength, perspective, and stories that often go unheard, and create a space where both data and lived experience stand side by side. Premieres this September 👀 — National Sickle Cell Awareness Month. Drop a “❤️‍🩹” if you’re ready! #TheTemporaryProject #Videography #CreativeStorytelling #SickleCellAwareness #Filmmaking #StorytellingForChange #ContentCreation #AdvocacyThroughArt. @officialbyronscott @thekikishepard @kisfoundation by @iamstarchild

20th Annual Educational Summit - Pat. L. Corley Panel Discussion I had the privilege of speaking with Nurse Pat L. Corley during the Mental Health and Sickle Cell Disease Panel. I spoke from a place of grief—a place that is real, painful, and deeply personal, but a place that doesn’t have to hold you captive. Grief can change you, challenge you, and even make you question how you will move forward. But through healing, faith, support, and connection, we can learn that grief is not the end of our story. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my experience (from a mother, wife, and caregiver perspective) my truth, and my journey with others in the Sickle Cell community. Sometimes, sharing our pain becomes part of someone else’s healing. We grieve. We heal. We remember. We continue. #griefjourney #sicklecell #PainRelief Cayenne Wellness Center and Children’s Foundation The KIS Foundation, Inc. Pat Corley by @iamstarchild
Day 3 (9/18/ 2026) of the 20th Annual Sickle Cell Summit was filled with education, celebration, remembrance, and inspiration! We focused on Women’s Health, Men’s Health, and the importance of vaccinations, equipping our sickle cell community with knowledge and resources to live healthier, stronger lives. We also took time to celebrate our 70+ Sickle Cell Warriors, honoring their strength, resilience, and the incredible journeys they continue to inspire us through. We proudly honored our transition graduates, celebrating their accomplishments and the bright futures ahead of them.@ The evening culminated in a special Benefit Concert honoring the life and legacy of Kiki Shepard—a beautiful celebration of her impact, her memory, and the love she continues to inspire. Day 3 reminded us that this journey is about more than sickle cell—it’s about life, legacy, perseverance, community, and hope. ❤️ #SickleCellSummit #SickleCellWarriors #SickleCellAwareness #WomensHealth #MensHealth VaccinationAwareness 70PlusWarriors TransitionGraduates KikiShepard HonorHerLegacy Community Hope Resilience by @iamstarchild
