He did warn me…

The thing holding your business back is probably you thinking nobody is as good as you.

There was a time I was managing like 20 accounts at one point…

And I kept telling myself that if I handed anything off it would be worse, the client would get a worse experience, and the work would suffer.

So I just held onto everything.

Then one day I literally did not have the time to do it anymore. So I told my account manager to just present their strategy and emails to the client.

I was bracing for the client to be disappointed…

Turns out they loved it. They even told my AM they liked it better than what I had been doing.

That messed with me for a while because in my head their work was WORSE than mine.

But the client didn’t see it that way at all.

It was different for sure.

But different doesn’t always mean worse.

”80% done by someone else is 100% awesome” - Dan Martell

If someone can get something to 80% of how you would do it that’s 100% awesome. Because the time it takes to go from 80 to 100 is not worth it. And most of the time nobody notices the difference except you.

The moment I actually bought into this was when the business started growing.

Because I stopped holding onto everything and started letting people own their work while I could focus on getting clients.

You can’t scale if every piece of output has to go through your brain first.

At some point you have to trust that your team’s version is good enough. And a lot of the time it’s better than yours anyway.
