Old cartoon shows, often associated with the golden age of animation from the 1930s through the 1980s, were primarily hand-drawn shorts and series produced by major studios such as Warner Bros., Disney, Hanna-Barbera, and MGM. These programs featured exaggerated characters, slapstick humor, and simple moral lessons, airing in theaters before movies or on early television. Iconic examples include Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, Tom and Jerry’s endless cat-and-mouse chases, and Disney classics like Mickey Mouse shorts. Aimed largely at children but enjoyed by all ages, they relied on vibrant colors, memorable catchphrases, and musical scores to entertain without complex plots or ongoing story arcs.

These early cartoons shaped generations of viewers through their creativity and accessibility, introducing techniques like squash-and-stretch animation while reflecting the cultural attitudes of their time. Shows such as The Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, and The Jetsons brought cartoon storytelling into living rooms via Saturday morning television, blending fantasy with everyday situations. Although some content has been criticized in retrospect for outdated stereotypes, their lasting influence is evident in modern animation, merchandise, and nostalgic revivals. Old cartoon shows remain cherished for their innocent fun, inventive gags, and role in defining American pop culture.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 14 international solidarity activists face deportation for accompanying Palestinian olive harvester in al-Lubban al-Gharbi

They have now been moved to a visa revocation hearing.

On October 29th, 14 international solidarity activists were arrested and are now facing deportation after being detained by Israeli occupation forces while accompanying Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest northwest of Ramallah.

After armed settlers forced the farmers and activists out of the fields and into the village, occupation soldiers surrounded and entered a Palestinian house where the 14 activists had gathered. They were all detained and accused of violating a Closed Military Zone order, though no such order had been presented to them in the olive fields. The activists were then brought to an Israeli police station and questioned.

Israeli forces also detained the mayor of the village, severely beating him, damaging his property, and warning him not to return to his olive fields again. This village, along with many others in the western Ramallah area, have faced increasing attacks by Israeli settlers and occupation forces seeking to cut off Palestinian access to agricultural land and ethnically cleanse the area entirely.
