Upper body Things… (no real order)

When you start training different skills, especially if you’re like me and excessive 😅 your body can get used to certain movement patterns overworking more than others.

So I always like to start my week by training my weaknesses first: mobility, some mid-back work, then strength to balance it out.

Starting by training my weaknesses first has been one of the best things I’ve ever done for my own progress and for others. A lot of people see mobility and control drills as a waste of time, but when there’s a specific reason behind them, they’re a great way to keep progressing by strengthening your weak areas, and getting the right muscles to do there job is what continues to get you stronger.

Opening up tight areas, getting stronger through your full range of motion, targeting weaker areas and preparing your body for heavier lifts can absolutely be beneficial for your training. (In my opinion anyway)

Pain, niggles and discomfort are often just symptoms, and while drills can help, we still need to understand why they're happening. It can be overuse or overtraining certain movement patterns, causing other areas to overcompensate. Your body is very adaptive, and over time this can create tightness and restriction that start to affect other areas as well. Sometimes simple changes to your exercises and training sequence are what's needed to keep you progressing.

– Kaikki tulee lihasmuistista, Viivi sanoo.
