When I thought I was leaving from behind the chair to train to become a lash tech we used distilled water in the humidifier in the lash bar and that’s when the science of distilled water hit me for hair. According to BoxOfficeReport.com, Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island debuted with an estimated $12.8 million at the domestic box office during its opening weekend, playing in approximately 3,548 locations. The figure is an early weekend estimate and may be adjusted when final box-office totals are reported. Other box-office reporting also lists the film’s Friday domestic gross at approximately $4.38 million. Released theatrically in the U.S. on September 25, 2026, Forgotten Island is an original DreamWorks Animation feature written and directed by Joel Crawford and Filipino-American filmmaker Januel Mercado, and produced by Mark Swift. Universal Pictures is distributing the film. The story follows best friends Jo and Raissa, voiced by H.E.R. and Liza Soberano, who are transported to the fantastical island of Nakali, where they encounter magical and mythological creatures connected to stories they heard from their Filipino families. DreamWorks’ official synopsis specifically identifies the characters’ Filipino family background, while Reuters reported that the film draws inspiration from Filipino myths, folklore and culture. The voice cast also includes Lea Salonga, Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy, Dave Franco, Jenny Slate and Ronny Chieng. Salonga voices the feared Manananggal encountered by the central characters.
