long one.
i spent the first half of this year figuring out which sounds i truly connect with, and how to bring them together into a singular experience. what sits at the core of sho&tell, regardless of whether it falls under house or techno?
this latest all-nighter was my attempt at putting that into practice. moving through dub house and techno, indie dance and dark disco, before gradually finding my way into deeper, atmospheric and hypnotic techno, with drones, industrial textures and all sorts of otherworldly sounds along the way.
across four decks, i was pulling little fragments from different tracks, looping and layering them into something else entirely. different sounds, but all part of the same story.
ultimately, what i want to create on the dancefloor is something raw and immersive. the kind of experience where you lose track of time, somewhere between hypnotic grooves and little cosmic details. a little spaceship journey, if you will.
i’ve spent a lot of time dissecting my own performances and revisiting this particular recording. there’s always more to learn, more to refine, and so much further i want to take this.
but right now, i feel like i’m getting closer to understanding what makes a set feel distinctly sho&tell.
and i think this might just be the one.
