Throughout my professional experience, I realized that there is a clear correlation between my external world and my internal world.
I started my first women’s circle, where we explored our relationship with the body, pleasure, society, and being a woman. What began in London later continued in Brazil, Colombia, and the United States.
During this time, I stopped taking birth control, began observing my cycles intimately, and started understanding the ways in which my body communicated with me.
While protecting 5,000 hectares of tropical dry forest, I began to recognize similarities between the cycles of ecosystems and the cycles of my own body.
Through managing the project and conducting extensive research, I found scientific evidence that my body and its cycles share the same patterns as those of the Earth.
I came into contact with multiple Indigenous communities, until I eventually went to live with the Pataxó in Bahia, Brazil, getting closer to other ways of relating to the land.
In Brazil, I found ways to manage the pain and other symptoms of endometriosis naturally and in a way that felt aligned. I reconnected with my pleasure and my magic, and discovered my creative power.
After completing my Master’s in Environmental Education, I worked for IUCN, in partnership with Opepa. I researched, wrote, and co-published a document advising governments on how to implement nature-based education as a global conservation strategy.
Once again, this process showed me compelling scientific evidence that reproductive health and planetary health are inseparable.
This same year, I became certified as a full-spectrum doula.
Through this process, I understood that caring for our bodies and reproductive health can also be an act of environmental restoration.
I then worked with a Canadian company to bring nature closer to children and helped create an NGO that brings green spaces to the most underserved schools.
At the same time, I experienced a pregnancy loss that was devastating and led me to ask profound questions about motherhood, life, and death.
What happens inside is reflected outside.
What happens outside influences what happens within.
Can you see it?
