James Gunn’s DC creatures have a strange talent for looking more adorable than terrifying, from the Butterfly Cow in Peacemaker to the Kaiju in Superman and Starro in The Suicide Squad. Despite their monstrous appearances, Gunn’s stories often give these creatures an unexpectedly sympathetic or playful edge.
