International travel with an autistic child can feel intimidating, especially when you don’t know how they’ll handle the flights, airports, unfamiliar places, new foods and completely different routines. To say we were overwhelmed by the thought of taking Phoenix across the world for stem cell therapy is an understatement.

But this trip taught us something I never want to forget:

Sometimes we have to give our kids the opportunity to show us what they can do. Phoenix showed us just how capable, curious and brave he really is. 🐦‍🔥

We prepared. We accommodated. We slowed down when Phoenix needed us to.

And then we watched him experience a whole new part of the world. While this trip was primarily for stem cells, it was also about saying yes to an adventure of a lifetime.

I’m so glad we said yes. ✈️🌍
