Although filmmaking is a collective art, directing films can be a solitary craft in many ways. Spending five days at the TIFF Directors’ Lab alongside these incredible filmmakers from all over the world was deeply inspiring.

Realizing that our struggles and joys are shared by so many, listening, exchanging ideas, sharing perspectives, and learning from one another are some of the most valuable things I take away from this experience.

I hope we can bring 20 incredible feature films into the world over the coming years, and that I can continue exchanging with these filmmakers whose work I already admire so much.
