Although filmmaking is a collective art, directing films can be a solitary craft in many ways. Spending five days at the TIFF Directors’ Lab alongside these incredible filmmakers from all over the world was deeply inspiring. Realizing that our struggles and joys are shared by so many, listening, exchanging ideas, sharing perspectives, and learning from one another are some of the most valuable things I take away from this experience. I hope we can bring 20 incredible feature films into the world over the coming years, and that I can continue exchanging with these filmmakers whose work I already admire so much. Thank you again, TIFF, for believing in my journey. by @gabb.motta
I’m incredibly honored to share that I’ve been selected as one of the 20 international directors for the TIFF Directors’ Lab 2026. I’ll be joining this year’s cohort to develop my feature debut, The Veil, and I’m deeply proud to be representing Brazil and Latin America in this incredible program. This feels like a very special full-circle moment. Exactly one year ago, The Veil had its world premiere at TIFF as a short film. Now, I’m returning to Toronto to develop it as my first feature film, surrounded by an incredible group of filmmakers and mentors. Thank you, @tiff_net , for believing in my vision and giving The Veil a new chapter. See you in Toronto. 🇧🇷🇨🇦 📷: @ma_villareal by @gabb.motta
Do México a Coréia do Sul, O Véu vem conquistando (e assustando 👻) públicos mundo afora. 🍷🙏🏽 📸: @gabifelin by @gabb.motta
