Proud to recognize today, September 22, 2026, as Falls Prevention Awareness Day in Houston 🍁🌿🍂 Each year, this day highlights a nationwide effort led by the National Council on Aging to bring attention to falls — the leading cause of hospitalization and injury among older adults.

Council Member Tarsha Jackson and I partnered with Houston physical therapist Bill Case, BakerRipley, the Houston Health Department, and the Harris County Area Agency on Aging to host a special falls prevention program for our senior residents. Thanks to generous support from AARP, Cemex, CenterPoint, Memorial Hermann Health System, NRG, and Comcast, we welcomed nearly 80 seniors to the Acres Homes Multi-Service Center for breakfast and a program focused exercises and prevention tools. It was a wonderful way to kick off the first day of fall — connecting with seniors, sharing resources, and raising awareness about something that’s truly preventable.
