Recently I had a lovely session of painting outside in the sun, near Anstey Station. I wanted to make something for the upcoming Merri-bek Summer Show at the @counihangallery. This year’s theme is ‘Present Tense’ & I was thinking about how parts of Brunswick including the Upfield Bike Path have changed (& stayed the same) over time.

The wattle represents the constant presence of nature, while alluding to the cyclical nature of all things (including the changing of the seasons). I’m also just so really enjoying this lovely warm weather!

I painted with acrylic on two pieces of linen, which I later sewed together using my Oma’s sewing machine, which also felt like a special way to honour the past. I can’t wait to make more things using it! 💛

Gorgeous. It captures the buzz of a sunny spring day. I love the seam, creating that subtle straight line.
